What happens if I married or adopted after I made my Will?

If, after making a Will, a parent has a child or adopts a child, that child omitted from the Will receives a share of the parent’s estate upon the parent’s death that is the same as if the parent had died intestate, unless clear and convincing evidence is presented that the parent intended the child to have less than that sum.  RCW 11.12.091.

If, after making a Will, a person marries, the omitted spouse receives a share of her spouse’s estate upon the spouse’s death that is the same as if the spouse had died intestate, unless clear and convincing evidence is presented that the deceased spouse intended the omitted spouse to have less than that sum.  RCW 11.12.095.
